BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir (Neasden Temple) is a traditional Hindu temple located in Neasden, London. Inaugurated in 1995 by Pramukh Swami Maharaj, it was Europe's first authentic Hindu stone mandir and the largest of its kind outside India at the time.

Constructed entirely using traditional methods and materials, the mandir was envisioned 15 years prior by Pramukh Swami and built according to ancient Vedic architectural scriptures known as the Shilpa Shastras. The design and carvings were led by Indian architect CB Sompura, with intricate marble and limestone shipped to India for carving, then assembled in London like a jigsaw.
The mandir structure stands 21 meters high and 60 meters long, built using over 1,699 cubic meters of hand-carved stone, including Italian marble and Bulgarian limestone, without using steel. It features 7 shikhars (pinnacles), 6 domes, 193 intricately carved pillars, and numerous unique architectural elements. The interior includes over 26,000 carved pieces and 55 ceiling designs. Surrounding the mandir is a beautifully landscaped garden that incorporates both parterre and formal styles, symbolizing harmony between humanity, nature, and the cosmos. The garden has received several awards including "Brent in Bloom" and "London in Bloom".
Adjoining the mandir is the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Haveli, a multi-functional cultural center built in traditional haveli style using English oak and Burmese teak. Crafted by over 150 Indian artisans, the haveli features richly carved arches, columns, and balconies in Gujarati tradition. It includes a large pillarless prayer hall, gymnasium, medical center, dining area, library, and conference facilities. The timber used was sustainably sourced, with thousands of saplings planted in return.
The lower level of the mandir hosts a permanent exhibition titled "Understanding Hinduism", showcasing Hindu values through dioramas, artwork, and a documentary film. Construction of the temple complex began in 1992 with over 450 artisans and hundreds of volunteers contributing time and resources. The project was funded entirely by the Hindu community, with initiatives like recycling 7 million aluminum cans earning environmental accolades.
Recognized by the Guinness World Records in 2000 as the largest Hindu temple outside India at the time, the mandir has also welcomed royal visitors and global recognition. In 2020, King Charles III and Queen Camilla praised it as a place of worship, community, and learning.
