Shri Venkateswara (Balaji) Temple Tividale United Kingdom

Shri Venkateswara (Balaji) Temple, located in Tividale, West Midlands, is one of the largest functioning Hindu temples in the United Kingdom and Europe. Dedicated to Lord Venkateswara, a revered form of the supreme Hindu god Maha Vishnu, the temple follows the Vaishnava tradition.

Venkateswara, considered the preserver and protector of the universe, is worshipped here with deep devotion. The temple's architecture draws inspiration from the famous Tirupati Venkateswara Temple in Andhra Pradesh, India, and was formally consecrated and opened to the public in August 2006. The main sanctum is devoted to Lord Venkateswara, and the temple complex also includes shrines to his divine consort Padmavati (Alamelu), as well as other important Hindu deities such as Lord Hanuman, Lord Shiva, Lord Karthikeya, Lord Ganesh, Lord Ayappan, and the Navagrahas (nine planetary deities).

This diversity of shrines makes the temple a spiritually significant and inclusive space for devotees from various Hindu traditions. In addition to its religious services, the temple plays a vital role in community engagement and education. It operates the Balaji School for Culture & Education, which offers children lessons in Hindu scriptures (Vedas), music, and cultural values. The temple also provides a free matrimonial service, helping individuals and families find suitable marriage partners.

The temple complex includes a large community hall, a gatehouse, and the Gandhi Peace Centre. It hosts regular annadhanam services—free meal offerings—funded by public donations, and serves up to 2,500 visitors on weekends. Beyond religious activities, the temple actively supports cultural awareness and interfaith dialogue by welcoming school visits, hosting cultural events, and conducting classes in Vedic studies and Sanskrit.
